Visclosky Statement in Advance of the State of the Union Address
Washington, DC –Congressman Pete Visclosky released the following statement in advance of tonight’s State of the Union address.
“As we approach tonight’s State of the Union address, I remain very concerned about the threat of continued government shutdowns. We simply cannot use the threat of turning off essential public services that keep our nation safe and our economy strong as a policy negotiation tactic. As the 116th Congress proceeds, I will continue to do my best to ensure that Fiscal Year 2019 and Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations bills are completed in an expeditious and timely fashion, and that we remain focused on supporting the men and women of our Armed Forces, creating more opportunities for good-paying jobs, and alleviating the budget and rising cost concerns of individuals and families in Northwest Indiana and across our nation.”
