Visclosky Nominates 14 to Service Academies

Washington, DC  – Congressman Pete Visclosky has nominated 14 young men and women from Northwest Indiana for appointments to various U.S. service academies.

“It is a great pleasure to nominate these tremendous young people to our service academies,” Visclosky said.  “They represent the best and brightest Northwest Indiana has to offer.  Particularly in these times, I appreciate their willingness to serve our nation, and I wish them success in their endeavors.”

Following is a complete list of all Northwest Indiana appointments, listed by high school:

ANDREAN HIGH SCHOOL, Merrillville
Tyge Sopko, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy, son of Richard and Althea Sopko.
Cathleen Williamson, nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, daughter of Robert and Judith Williamson.

CALUMET HIGH SCHOOL, Calumet Township
Timothy Cusic, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, son of Ms. Helen Cusic.

CROWN POINT HIGH SCHOOL
Paul Schmidt, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy, son of William and Susan Schmidt.

GAVIT HIGH SCHOOL, Hammond
Anthony Doukas, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, son of Paschalis Doukas.
 
HANOVER CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL, Cedar Lake
Aaron Rush, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy, son of David and Regina Rush.

HIGHLAND HIGH SCHOOL
Paul Segal, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy, son of Donald and Jeanette Segal.

MERRILLVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Robert Huish, nominated to the U.S Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, son of Lance and Lisa Huish.

MUNSTER HIGH SCHOOL
Nicholas Bularzik, nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy, son of Joseph and Leonora Bularzik.
David Daniels, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, son of Thomas and Pamela Daniels.
Bryan Kowalczyk, nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, son of Gregory and Diane Kowalczyk.
Teruo Toyama, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy, son of Tsuyoshi and Linda Toyama.
Robert Zacny, nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, son of Bob and Olga Zacny.
