Congressman Visclosky Announces Town Hall Forum Schedule

Jan 5, 2004
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Pete Visclosky announced today that he will hold twenty-five town hall forums throughout the First Congressional District during the month of January.  Each year Visclosky holds forums throughout the region to hear from constituents and update them on the pressing issues facing Congress.

“I always look forward to these meetings,” Visclosky said.  “I work for everyone here in the First District and I appreciate hearing from you so I can best represent you. I have tried to schedule a town forum in every community and make them as accessible as possible to all residents of the First District.”

New this year are student participation and the schedule and grouping of the forums.

A local middle or high school student will have the opportunity to introduce Congressman Visclosky in his or her community and lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visclosky said, “I am very excited to have students come to introduce me.  They are the future of our district and we need to do everything we can to get more young people involved to help them recognize how vital it is to take part in the governing process.”

For the first time this year Visclosky will be holding daytime forums on weekdays in some locations so that people who are not comfortable driving at night, or who have other evening obligations, can still attend.  The forums are grouped to provide people a couple options to speak with Visclosky in their own town or in a community near by.
