Representing the 2nd District of Indiana

Visclosky Stays In Touch with Northwest Indiana

Jan 6, 2003
Press Release

Washington, D.C.  – As part of his continuing effort to stay in close touch with his district, Congressman Pete Visclosky announced today a new toll-free telephone number and his town forum schedule for 2003.

Effective immediately, residents in all parts of the First District will be able to reach Visclosky’s district office toll-free at 1-888-423-PETE.  This number replaces his previous Portage and Valparaiso extensions and can also be used throughout Jasper, Newton, and Benton counties.  Residents in Lake County can also contact the Congressman at his main telephone line, 219-795-1844.

“This new toll-free number will give all residents of the First Congressional District an opportunity to keep me informed of their needs and help me to serve them better,” Visclosky said.  “I encourage all Northwest Indiana residents to stay in touch with me and help me to help them.”

Visclosky also released a complete listing of his annual town forums.  This year, the Congressman will visit 25 Northwest Indiana locations in January and February to talk with residents, update them on what he is doing in Washington, and hear their concerns.

“These annual town forums are very valuable, because I get to hear what’s on the minds of the people I represent,” Visclosky said.  “I am very glad to have the opportunity to hold these meetings, because they give me a chance to find out what is important to the people of Northwest Indiana, and that helps me do my job more effectively.”
